Renée Kathleen Zellweger, who is more commonly known plainly as Renée Zellweger, is a multi-talented. 45 years old, American actress. She has enjoyed a successful acting career since the 1990s, but she is better known for her role in the romantic comedy series “Bridget Jones’s Diary”, adapted from the best-selling novel. Zellweger’s work in the movie “Cold Mountain” was recognized in 2003 with the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and she has also received three Golden Globe awards and two other Oscar nominations in her career. She hasn’t starred in a movie since 2010.
A lot of controversy surrounds the actress’s seemingly ever-changing face, fueling Renée Zellweger plastic surgery rumors. The Oscar winner has, admittedly, has gone through a lot of changes over the years to portray several roles, by dying her usually blond hair in a darker color, cutting it, and getting bangs, and more noticeably even, by gaining and shedding 30 pounds, twice, for her critically acclaimed performances as Bridget Jones. Those changes, however, are a thing of the past, and they do not account for the notable differences that can be seen in her features as of late.
It was in 2006, not long after her “Bridget Jones” and “Cold Mountain” successes, that the first changes were visible in the Oscar-winner’s face. In her mid-to-late thirties, the crinkles by her eyes, and the smile lines that had made her so loveable and relatable as her famous overweight character were suddenly gone, leaving the smoothest forehead in their wake.
Things started to get awkward by 2009, when Renée hit the red carpet at 40 years old with a wrinkle-free face that no one could ignore, but the worst was yet to come, as she became almost unrecognizable by the 2012-2013 season, stealing the attention with a wide-eyed look, as opposed to her usually squinty eyes, more sunken-in cheeks, and a semblance of a double-chin, which made her not only look like a completely different person, but some even argue, older than her years.
It was not necessary to have gone to medical school to see the “Jerry Maguire” actress had done something to her face, and her “bad plastic surgery story’ quickly became the talk of Hollywood and internet alike, and while Zellweger herself has never commented the rumors, other people haven’t refrained from commenting on her appearance, with a fellow star tweeting in 2013 that she looked “like the Ghost of Christmas Future for Jennifer Lawrence” referring to her lack of wrinkles and hinting, not subtly, that she had had an excess of Botox injections.
While the use of Botox is mostly obvious, the other causes for the changes in the three-time Golden Globe winner’s face are debatable. The public is always quick in jumping to conclusions when it comes to celebrities and plastic surgery. But while specialists admit that she most likely had a chin implant, which along with her weight loss resulted in her newly acquired striking features, it is not clear whether she’s had any other changes made to her face.
Renée’s face has since gone through another transformation it seems, as she is once again sporting a more relaxed, age appropriate face in 2014, with some joyful voices claiming online that “her face is back”. The damage is already done, however, and the memory of her changing, almost distorting facial makeovers, is still haunting her fans, and the public alike.
