Nicki Minaj, born Onika Tanya Maraj on December 8, 1982 in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, voice actress and TV personality. As mentioned, she was born in Trinidad and Tobago, but she moved to New York when she was five years old. Nicki started her career singing backup vocals for some New York rappers but she became famous when her debut album Pink Friday came out in 2010. This album rose to be number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.
