Melanie Griffith is an American actress born on August 9, 1957 in New York City. She achieved her popularity by playing the role of Tess McGill in the movie Working Girl (1988). That role brought her a Golden Globe Award and a nomination for an Academy Award. Her next starring roles were in 1990s films – Pacific Heights, The Bonfire of the Vanities, A Stranger Among Us, Born Yesterday, Milk Honey, Now and Then and Two Much. She also played a role in popular TV film Buffalo Girls and in Woody Allen’s Celebrity, but was praised for the performance in the 1998 movie Another Day in Paradise in which she impersonated a heroin user.
